Head of Modern Foreign Languages
Ark St Alban’s Academy is seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic teacher to lead its successful and growing MFL Department. The successful applicant to this post will be an ambitious, high-potential leader with an aspiration of being fast-tracked to Senior Leadership.
We prioritise a mastery of French from the beginning of Key Stage Three, where teachers at Ark St Alban’s Academy collaborate with colleagues across Ark Schools in the development of a knowledge rich, trust-wide curriculum which all pupils study. At Key Stage Four, many pupils study French or Spanish, and it is our intention in the years ahead that the whole cohort will study French for GCSE. Whilst we have not yet had a French or Spanish cohort through Key Stage 5, we are also keen to offer French and/or Spanish as an A-Level subject to support pupil access to a wide-range of courses when applying to university.
Pupils make good progress in languages at Ark St Alban’s Academy. We recognise that excellent attainment in languages provide our pupils with access to competitive transformational destinations. As such, the continued success of our languages department is central to our mission to prepare all of our pupils for success at university. The successful candidate will lead the development of our curriculum and they will lead the professional development and line-management of colleagues in the department. As well as leading colleagues within the department and collaborating with leaders of languages from the across the Ark network, the successful candidate will also join a thriving a thriving curriculum leadership team within the school that work together to drive whole school improvement.
