Head of MFL job summary
We are searching for exceptional talent and offering opportunities to be part of something unique here at Ormiston Forge Academy. We are a large, oversubscribed school graded ‘GOOD’ by OFSTED at our last inspection in 2019. Following the departure of the previous subject leader who is relocating, we are looking for an outstanding MFL teacher, who has the qualities to lead colleagues to secure the highest possible standards in teaching, learning and outcomes. You will have experience of teaching Spanish across key stages 3, 4 and preferably 5 with a proven track record of improving MFL outcomes for students.
We require, for a September 2024 start, an enthusiastic and highly committed person who will be instrumental in continuing the progress our MFL team have made over the last four years. The MFL team has undergone rapid changes with significant improvements in teaching and learning already in place. We want to recruit a colleague to accelerate this progress and make a significant contribution to student achievement across all age ranges, whilst also increasing the number of students opting for Spanish at GCSE.
This is an ideal opportunity for colleagues who aspire to work as a senior leader in the future as the role will involve significant leadership responsibility. If you are able to motivate all students to achieve or exceed their target grades, if you are passionate about languages, have an interest in being at the cutting edge and are driven to ensure students receive the best possible experience, then this job is for you.
The successful candidate will:
Raise achievement through motivating, challenging and inspiring our students;
Be committed to inclusion;
Help foster a culture of high expectations and achievement within the department;
Have drive, enthusiasm, resilience, warmth and humour;
Confidently and strategically lead an experienced MFL department;
Develop a love of learning and pride in the subject;
Have opportunities to contribute to the wider life and ethos of the Academy.
We can offer you:
The opportunity to join a supportive staff and work with well-motivated students;
An innovative curriculum;
The opportunity to join an aspiring academy with exciting plans for the future;
Progression opportunities both internally and externally;
A data rich environment focused on raising standards.
The ideal candidate must have the following:
A degree in a modern foreign language;
Qualified Teacher Status (ability to teach to Key Stage 3, Key stage 4 and preferably Key Stage 5);
Previous experience working as an MFL teacher;
Be versatile to take on a range of activities;
Have the ability to work within a team;
Have high expectations of all learners.
The young people at Ormiston Forge Academy deserve nothing less than the best and so if you can be the best then we would very much like to hear from you.
