What skills and experience we're looking for
- Is an ambitious and motivated French and Spanish classroom practitioner across all key stages (Spanish KS4 essential, French KS3 essential and KS4 desirable)
- Is able to evidence effective teaching and learning in current role and GCSE results which reflect this through both attainment and progress against national expectations.
- Has Qualified Teacher Status
- Is committed to the safeguarding of children
- Has a degree or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrates high levels of professionalism at all times and is a role model for others
- Is able to communicate effectively and positively with all stakeholders at all levels
- Has an understanding of the new GCSE specifications for Edexcel (first examination 2026)
- Is committed to the wider aspects of the Academies life including extra-curricular activities
- Is committed to leading a dynamic and forward thinking MFL team
- Is able to help develop high quality schemes of learning and quality assure their implementation across the department
- Is able to hold staff to account for the progress of students across the MFL department

Further details about the role
The Academies are seeking to appoint a Head of MFL who is an experienced and excellent classroom practitioner with a passionate belief in the ability for all to succeed.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach Spanish at KS3 and KS4 level and ideally have knowledge of French in order to lead effectively across the two subjects. We are looking for a conscientious, dedicated team-player who has excellent subject knowledge and a passion for Modern Foreign Languages with the ability to enthuse students and colleagues alike.
They will need to have in-depth and up to date knowledge of current developments in MFL teaching and the upcoming changes to GCSE examination requirements in order to lead and develop a team of eight teachers.
