Are you passionate about Music and dedicated to inspiring and motivating students?
This is an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic professional to join our oversubscribed upper school. We are on a journey of rapid improvement and want inquisitive, positive, dynamic and resilient colleagues to join our excellent Performing Arts department.
Our thriving department is currently recruiting for a Head of Music. The department is very well-resourced and there will be the opportunity to teach across all Key Stages.
We offer a full KS3 programme of music which enables students to develop an understanding of Logic - creating and recording their own music as well as highly practical sessions. Students are then able to choose Music as a GCSE option, followed by the option to choose Music at A Level. Students can take the Rock School qualification at Sixth Form.
Music plays a very important part of life at Queen Elizabeth’s School and we have many clubs and events throughout the year, including an orchestra, jazz orchestra and a choir. We produce an annual large scale musical which we encourage students to take part in.
Ideally, we would like to appoint someone who:
-
Is an exceptional teacher of Music with proven success in the subject
-
Is passionate about Music education and is committed to student engagement
-
Has the ability to inspire students
-
Has an awareness of Rosenshine’s principles of instruction
-
An awareness of some of the concepts explored in Tom Sherrington’s ‘Walkthru’ series or Doug Lemov’s ‘Teach Like a Champion’ series.
We can offer you:
-
Centralised curriculum and behaviour systems which enable you to focus on your core purpose: teaching excellent lessons
-
Highly motivated and ambitious students
-
Teaching across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
-
Assessment strategies which support wellbeing and workload
-
Excellent CPD opportunities
-
An opportunity to join a dedicated team of supportive staff
-
A positive, supportive community of staff, local school committee members, the Trust and parents
-
An exciting modern school with state-of-the-art facilities
The starting salary is negotiable for exceptional candidates.
We encourage early applications and reserve the right to interview and to close the vacancy prior to the application deadline if we receive a high volume of suitable candidates.
