Head of Music job summary
Our creative arts faculty is a large department of fourteen teachers. Currently we offer art, drama, dance, music, design technology and food preparation and nutrition. At KS5, we offer art and photography. All KS3 students study music, it is an option for GCSE. At GCSE we currently study Edexcel. We work collaboratively when planning our curricula and have a strong, enthusiastic team. Our school has been improving uptake in students playing a musical instrument over the past year.
We are committed to ensuring that all pupils make excellent progress in across our faculty creative subjects through experiencing excellent teaching and an engaging curriculum that motivates them to succeed. Where possible, cross-curricular links will be made to help to build connections, helping students to creatively develop exploring a range of skills.
We aim to give students a creative curriculum that inspires them to become confident and independent learners who can understand and use different knowledge and skills to complement them in school and in the wider world. We aim to engage students in real life experiences both inside and outside of school through performances, discipline. We carefully planned educational visits, and in school visitors to enrich students culturally and to help them create.
Commitment to safeguarding
Westfield Academy and it's Trust Board fully recognise that they have a duty of care to ensure arrangements are in place for safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children. We recognise that all members of the school community, including volunteers and Trustees, will at all times play a full and active part in protecting our students from harm.
