Head of PE job summary
Beaconsfield High School, an outstanding girls’ grammar school, which due to the promotion of the previous post holder has a rare opportunity for an ambitious, energetic, highly motivated Head of PE with the vision to inspire and enthuse our students. The successful candidate will be expected to teach across the age range and have experience of GCSE and A Level PE. Our priority is to appoint a dynamic, hardworking HOD with the ability to confidently lead a team and the vision to expand our current offer.
Ideally, are looking for someone who has a specialism in either hockey or netball, however, we will consider candidates with other specialisms’. The person appointed will need a collaborative approach to working, have good interpersonal skills and deliver lessons that will inspire all our learners to be the best they can be. A member of the senior team who is a PE specialist will line manage and mentor the appointed candidate in the first year of the post.
Student progress is at the heart of everything we do - our vision is to ‘promote well-being, life-long participation and excellence in PE for all’. We aim to inspire students through an education which is inclusive and enjoyable whilst encouraging all students to do their absolute best which includes an elite pathway in selected sports. Facilities include a fitness room housing cardiovascular and weights equipment, a sports hall, a gym with a sprung floor, netball/tennis courts, a full sized astro turf and extensive playing fields which accommodate a 400m track.
The students at Beaconsfield High School are highly motivated, highly engaged and eager to learn. This makes teaching PE both enjoyable and rewarding as you are able to stretch and challenge all students and see progress being made. Our students are well behaved and there is always a positive learning environment meaning you can develop your skills as a teacher and experiment with new and creative ideas.
