As a new school within a highly aspirational and academically successful multi-academy Trust, Ada Lovelace CE High School offers comprehensive CPD, exciting development opportunities and good promotion prospects for its teachers. The school, now in its second year, is currently co-located at William Perkin CE High School (Ofsted ‘Outstanding’), and moves to its brand new permanent site in north Ealing in September 2020.
This is an exciting role for an enthusiastic teacher as we prepare our students for GCSE and beyond (the school’s first GCSEs will be in 2023). The opportunity to set up and establish the sporting offer in a new school is not one to be missed - they come along very rarely and as such the Governors will be seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate with exceptional ability and skills.
The Head of PE will work alongside the Headteacher to deliver our vision for sport drawing upon the experiences and best practice at William Perkin and the other Trust schools. The Head of PE will have a Head of Boys or Girls PE to work with in a team of two, developing the long term vision for sport at Ada Lovelace. All Year 7 - 11 students experience a ‘sport afternoon’ in which students have an extended 100-minute session in the range of sports on offer, with particular focus given to the showcase team sports of cricket, rugby, football and netball. After school there will be ‘Sport for All’ programmes, alongside school team coaching and the opportunity to join elite training programmes led by Trust individuals, or local coaches from linked sporting clubs with a very high level sporting or coaching background. The successful candidate will be resourceful with the ability to work with local partners to open up access to a range of sporting facilities and opportunities.
The successful candidate will support the sport offer at all four Twyford Trust schools through the sharing of best practice, the development of Twyford Trust elite coaching programmes, links with local clubs across West London and the development of an inter-school sport competition in the main team sports. S/he will benefit from the extensive links that have been made with regional and local sporting partners including MCCC, Brentford FC, QPR, Ealing, Harrow and Brentham CC, Hanwell Town, Middlesex RFU and Actonians.
