The Physical Education and Health and Social Care Faculty is a successful and committed faculty aiming for the highest standards in teaching and learning in sport. We seek to encourage aspiration, instil confidence and nurture a love of Sport in all of our student. This is evidenced through the outstanding sporting achievements across a broad range of sporting opportunities.

Year on year the PE department has been awarded the School Games Gold Award which rewards schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community and the Youth Sport Trust Gold Quality Mark which is a nationally recognised badge of excellence for PE and School sport.
Students enjoy a broad and balanced curriculum at Braunton Academy (see website for details). Braunton Academy Physical Education department prides itself on excellent GCSE results, student engagement in learning during lessons for both KS3 and KS4 classes and our reputation within the community.
Students also participate in large numbers and in a wide range of extra curricular clubs and activities throughout the year. Our extra curricular focus is a balance between mass participation and providing opportunities for competitive sport and we are proud of the many successes that we have at local, regional and national competitions and the reputation we have for sporting excellence within our community.. Health & Social Care department
Health and Social Care is a subject taught at KS4 as a GCSE option. This department has recently been returned to sit within this faculty because of its strong teaching links with Physical Education as it aims to teach its students about the development and care of people throughout the life cycle.
The current exam board the Academy follows is OCR level 1 / 2 National certificate of Health and Social Care. During Y10 and Y11, students work on two assessments on life stages and activities. There is also one terminal exam with 30% of the course on the principles of Health and Social Care. The course attracts about 20-30 students for KS4.
