  • Evidence of success in professional development across career to date
  • Appropriate educational and professional qualifications the role
  • A track record of success in leadership in a PE department
  • A track record of achievement in raising standards and delivering improvements in results
  • Demonstrable success in leading a department or faculty through significant periods of development
  • Evidence of the ability to develop excellent relationships with young people and adults
  • Successful experience of using target setting, data analysis and curriculum innovation to improve performance
  • Experience in analysis of need in planning and implementing development initiatives for staff
  • Evidence of promotion of innovative technologies in teaching and learning
  • Experience of working successfully with local community and external agencies/stakeholders

  • A thorough understanding of school leadership and school improvement needed to achieve outstanding student progress and personal development
  • Knowledge of current education legislation, national strategies, trends and innovation

  • A thorough understanding of the design and implementation of a specialist curriculum

Corby Technical School require a highly motivated, hardworking and inspiring Head of Physical Education. You will be joining an experienced and specialist team with a track record of success and a passion for teaching physical education.

All students study PE at Key Stage 3 and core PE at Key Stage 4. Academic Sport at Key Stage 4 and 5 are both very popular choices. The high uptake alongside extra-curricular opportunities and an ambitious and inclusive curriculum makes the department an exciting place to work.

As Headof PE, you will be responsible for:

  • Continuously developing our ambitious and engaging curriculum for all our students
  • Ensuring students of all abilities develop their physical capabilities and levels of fitness
  • Promoting high quality teaching and learning by modelling and identifying outstanding practice in others
  • Leading the department’s collaborative planning, and sharing of resources and best practice
  • Oversee the moderation and standardisation of work at Key Stage 4 and 5 Sport

Co-ordinate and continuously seek to grow the extra -curricular sports provision
