Head of Performing Arts job summary

We are seeking an experienced qualified teacher to join our outstanding teaching team as Head of Performing Arts.

The Performing Arts department consists of Drama and Dance, with Music as a separate subject taught by a Lead Practitioner. Drama and Music are offered at GCSE and A-level. As Head of Department, your job purpose will be:

To be accountable for student progress and development in drama and dance across KS3, KS4 and post 16, including meeting student achievement targets for subject areas which are agreed by the Principal and the Governing Body.
To ensure high standards of teaching and learning across drama and music area, through continuously developing and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.
To ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students in drama and dance, in accordance with the academy aims and policies, as determined by the Principal and Governing Body.
To ensure that all Academy policies and procedures are implemented and applied consistently.
To effectively and efficiently manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources across drama and dance.
To support the development for literacy.
To lead on organisation and delivery of high quality termly performing arts events, including a whole Academy end of year musical or drama production.
To ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience a range of musical and dramatic experiences, including organisation of peripatetic teaching
