Head of Performing Arts (Subject Leader) job summary
A newly created role, we seek a teacher with a deep passion for the Arts to head up our successful Performing Arts Department. You would lead in Music and Drama, which are options at GCSE with a proven track record of success and it is growing in popularity. We are looking to recruit a colleague who will be able to enthuse young people in both curricular and extra-curricular aspects of the Arts.
The successful candidate would instil enthusiasm, promote a culture of continual improvement for pupils and staff, high academic standards and fully support departmental extra-curricular activities including encouraging students to join our choir and school band. The Performing Arts Department is well equipped with resources; drama studio, seven music practice rooms and a music ICT suite. The boys’ engagement in music and drama is high and we have seen many musicians within the school go to follow their passion at University. The department dedicated Drama Studio has excellent sound and vision facilities.

We are a boy’s secondary school for students aged 11-18 with a co-educational 6th Form. Staff at the Forest School teach in modern, well equipped classrooms and are offered a tailored CPD programme. Staff are allocated a laptop, have access to the school’s sporting facilities as well as the lively staff social calendar.
The school has continued to invest in new technology with projects including a brand new school WiFi network, Show My Homework, GCSE Pod, Chromebooks for students to support learning and reduce staff workload. The school's drive on technology was invaluable during the lockdowns as the school had already established Google classroom. The school has a newly refurbished Core subject block with each classroom having an interactive whiteboard. In addition, we have invested in our all facilities across the school: new heating system reducing our carbon footprint, revamped technology including food room, whole school repainted, new interactive whiteboards, in addition to sporting facilities; building a upgraded our indoor swimming pool, invested in our sports hall, all weather pitches: MUGA, an all-weather football dome
During our last Ofsted Inspection, the school was rated ‘Good’. Staff wellbeing is paramount to us and we are working towards being ‘Outstanding’.
