What skills and experience we're looking for

As we embark on the recruitment process for our third year of opening, our staff team is still comparatively small. The successful applicant will therefore be expected to work closely with SLT and be fully committed to developing the leadership and educational provision within PE. They also need to be willing and flexible in order to navigate the demands of temporary accommodation and to have a strong desire to be part of the founding cohort of staff. We are looking for leaders who have the ambition to shape the school into an outstanding provider. The post holder will be required to deliver PE lessons to boys groups.

The post holder will work alongside the Senior Leadership Team in achieving the five-year strategic vision of the school. This will include collaborating with staff across the Trust to design the overall PE curriculum. Our permanent site is constrained due to being an inner city school, we therefore need our applicants to be visionary and creative in the implementation of this curriculum intent. Our PE lessons should be fully inclusive whilst allowing students to excel in individual disciplines. The successful candidate will also be responsible for implementing the Academy’s Teaching and Learning Framework within the PE team over time. They will work hard to ensure that all children in the school achieve, whatever their starting point, and will be fully committed to going above and beyond to ensure our students receive the very best in terms of opportunity, education and care. We fully believe in the positive impact physical activity, teamwork and self-discipline can have on the lives of our pupils, particularly the most vulnerable. Candidates should therefore develop a vision for successfully enriching the lives of the pupils of BTA through sport.

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to the satisfactory completion of an enhanced DBS check, Barred List check, the receipt of satisfactory references, online searches and any other statutory checks that are required for the post. We are an equal opportunities employer.

Bluecoat Trent Academy

The Bluecoat Trent Academy (BTA) opened its doors in September 2021 with the founding cohort of Year 7 pupils. BTA is an 11-16, non-faith school. For the first year BTA accommodates six forms of entry, growing to eight forms in subsequent years.

The new build for the academy will be built on the former site of Clarendon College, on the edge of Forest Fields, close to Mapperley Park. Whilst the new academy is being constructed BTA will, for the first three years, be based in its own building on the site of Bluecoat Aspley Academy on Aspley Lane. The school will be underpinned by the ethos of all the Archway academies whilst establishing its own unique vision and values.
