An enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational Head of Physics is required to join a thriving and successful curriculum area.

The successful candidate will share in our vision for Catholic Education as part of a successful and experienced Physics department, which is committed to raising academic standards for all students whilst supporting the spiritual and moral development of the whole person.


St John Plessington Catholic College is a Voluntary Aided Catholic 11-18 Academy. We are part of the Holy Family Catholic Multi Academy Trust. We serve the population of the Wirral and are oversubscribed in all year groups.


We are looking for a Head of Faculty who:

  • Wants to transform children’s lives and develop a love of Physics

  • Can be accountable for student progress and development within the subject area

  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner

  • Can effectively manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources within the department to support the designated subject portfolio

  • Can lead a department and develop and enhance the teaching practice of others

  • Work well with staff and students alike

  • Are looking to join a community of schools that promotes the formation of young people into successful citizens

  • Are interested in developing their practice and committed to their own professional development
