Head of Physics job summary
Are you passionate about Physics and Science with the ability to deliver high quality lessons and achieve excellent results?
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Head of Physics to lead this subject area in a highly successful and thriving Science Faculty at Rainhill High School, including Rainhill Sixth.
As a driven individual who can bring excellent leadership skills and outstanding teaching to Rainhill, you will have a proven track record of improvement as an inspirational practitioner securing outcomes across the key stages and possibly some existing leadership experience.
You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and will lead the teaching of ‘A’ level and GCSE Physics, and Physics within Science Trilogy GCSE.

Overall Role and Remit
To work with and for Head of Science;
1. To maximise the achievement of students in Physics against national and locally agreed benchmarked targets, at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5.
2. To maximise the quality of teaching. In particular to ensure there is no ‘inadequate’ or ‘requires improvement’ teaching, and to maximise the proportion of ‘outstanding’ teaching.
3. To build a cohesive and motivated team of scientists who all share a common goal to maximize attainment and progress in all pupils
4. To ensure delivery of the school’s policies
5. To ensure quality and style of learning of all teachers is the best it can be.
6. To ensure the curriculum is up to date and innovative.
7. To maximise the learning opportunities for students.
8. To take a full and active part in the school’s quality assurance process.
9. To line manage all the teaching and support staff in the Physics Department. To lead the Appraisal process within Physics, with pay progression recommendations.
