Bridgwater College Academy, a thriving all-through school, is looking for an exceptional Head of Primary to lead our growing primary phase, home to just over 550 children. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of our primary provision and play a pivotal part in the academy’s journey of success.

As Head of Primary, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the primary phase, working closely with the Executive Headteacher to establish and deliver a clear vision for excellence. You will lead on ensuring high standards in teaching, learning, and behaviour while fostering an inclusive and ambitious culture where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the primary phase, aligned with the ethos and objectives of the all-through school.
  • Lead improvements in teaching, learning, and assessment, ensuring that all students receive high-quality education.Foster a culture of high expectations, inclusivity, and mutual respect among staff, students, and parents.
  • Oversee behaviour strategies, ensuring consistent and positive approaches to discipline and pastoral care.Build strong partnerships with parents and the local community, acting as an ambassador for the school.
  • Line manage senior leaders within the primary phase, providing clear direction and robust performance management.
  • Support staff well-being and professional growth through targeted professional development and coaching.
  • Monitor and evaluate school performance data, using insights to inform strategic decisions and drive improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and curriculum standards.

This role calls for a passionate and experienced leader with a proven track record of driving improvements in primary education. You will inspire and empower staff, build strong relationships with parents and the wider community, and ensure the efficient management of resources and staffing. As this is a new role within the school, you will have the unique opportunity to define its purpose and make a lasting impact on the future of the primary phase and its students.
