About the role:
The Head of RE will lead and manage the RE department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. You will be responsible for developing a curriculum that inspires, challenges, and motivates pupils of all abilities, encouraging them to achieve their highest potential. In addition, you will ensure that all members of the subject team effectively use data to monitor pupil progress and support academic achievement across all year groups.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to teach PSHE.
Key responsibilities:
Leading Teaching and Learning:
Develop and implement a stimulating and challenging curriculum that promotes high standards of Religious Education. Ensure effective assessment practices and provide regular feedback to students to support their academic development.
Managing People:
Lead, motivate, and deploy the RE teaching team, ensuring high morale and professional growth within the department. Oversee performance management reviews for subject staff, setting clear targets and facilitating ongoing professional development.
Managing Policy and Planning:
Manage the RE department’s budget, ensuring resources are effectively allocated. Lead the development of subject improvement plans, prioritising curriculum development and professional development, and contribute to the academy's annual Self Evaluation Form (SEF).
Safeguarding and Welfare:
Ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students in line with academy policies. Actively contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment, promoting the welfare of all pupils.
