An exciting opportunity has arisen at this wonderful school for the appointment of a dynamic and energetic Head of Religious Education. The candidate must be a practising Catholic, who is an experienced, motivated and inspirational leader of this core curriculum area.

The successful applicant will be an excellent classroom practitioner with appropriate skills and knowledge to lead our Religious Education department to be the best it can be. They will be secure in building positive relationships with staff and students by fostering open communication, creating a supportive classroom environment, understanding individual needs, addressing concerns with empathy, setting clear expectations, and promoting a sense of belonging to maximize student engagement and learning potential.

The Head of Religious Education will be responsible for the development of the teaching and learning, the curriculum and the monitoring of student progress. They will be a key figure in upholding the Catholic Life and Mission of the school alongside or Trust Director of Chaplaincy.

St Augustine’s success over the last 3 years has seen us become oversubscribed, invest heavily in our staff development and celebrate sustained results and outstanding pupil progress. We take from right across the coastal area which makes us a truly diverse school community.

Although we may be a smaller than average school (607 on roll) we certainly think big – and our calm and purposeful ethos of learning is frequently commented on from our school community and visitors. Staff know our students well and together we form a cohesive community.

Due to the quality of CPD, colleagues that support each other and a sense of fun and enjoyment we have seen our staff stay and develop – and as such our school has low staff turnover and high staff retention.
