Head of School (Engage) job summary
We are looking for an experienced senior/middle leader to:
• Work alongside the Senior Vice Principal to lead on the school’s ‘belonging strategy’
• Be an advocate for those students and families within the community for whom mainstream school is a challenge, to ensure all students can access a broad and balanced curriculum alongside individual needs
• Lead on whole school SEND and ensure all students have the support necessary to thrive within the classroom
• Lead, support, develop and be accountable for the ENGAGE staff, HLTA’s, and Learning support team
• Be a Designated Safeguarding Lead
• Work on diminishing any differences between student groups (especially SEN and Boys)
• Lead on SEND research and development including organisation of public speaking events and publications
• To support the Principal to model exemplary leadership, raise expectations and standards and promote a caring, values-driven environment in which student achievement is promoted, recognised and celebrated.

Burton Borough is a vibrant and inclusive mixed Comprehensive School of 1157 students, situated on the Shropshire/ Staffordshire border within the pleasant market town of Newport. We were awarded the Gold Mental Health Award from the Carnegie School of Mental Health in April 2019 and are the first school in England to be recognised by Public Health England for the work we do in this area.
