Head of School job summary
The Village Federation are seeking to appoint a new Head of School for The FitzHerbert C of E Primary School in Fenny Bentley, a small village school with 64 pupils.
This role is a rare opportunity for an aspiring leader or for a teacher who wants to remain in the classroom whilst also having leadership responsibilities through managing the day-to-day running of the school.
The Village Federation has a unique set-up whereby the Head of School role is similar to the traditional small-school teaching head model, but where the Executive Headteacher maintains responsibility for governance, administration, budgeting and many other aspects of running the school. This means that the Head of School can focus on teaching, learning and all the things that are directly to do with the children, including working with parents and carers as the face of the school.
The successful candidate will have a 0.8FTE teaching commitment, initially within our mixed-age Year 4-6 class. They will be part of a wider senior-leadership team with three other Heads of School and the Executive Headteacher.
The starting point on the salary range is negotiable for candidates who may already have leadership experience or an existing salary within the range.
We are looking for a passionate, committed and flexible team member who will start as soon as possible after the Easter break.
The Village Federation offers an excellent working environment where talent is nurtured, work-life balance is valued and everyone is determined to create a happy and successful environment for children and adults alike.
Visits to the school are welcomed and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Executive Headteacher, Peter Johnston, via email at headteacher@thevillagefederation.co.uk
Provisional Interview Date: 18 February 2022
