What skills and experience we're looking for

You must be able to demonstrate significant teaching and leadership experience in specialist education setting(s), preferably with experience of children and young people with complex needs including profound and multiple learning difficulties.

You will need to be: • An inspirational leader who can motivate others • Passionate about teaching and learning including experience of using evidenced based research to develop pedagogy within a specialist setting (there will be a small teaching commitment) • Committed to delivering the highest quality of education, including holding staff and others to account • An excellent communicator, fostering positive relationships with pupils, staff parents/carers and other stakeholders, including multi-agency working • Knowledgeable about the functionality of assessment and its application within a specialist setting • Knowledgeable of accreditation that is reflective of our learners but aspirational in its implementation. • Committed to pupil, staff and parent/carer wellbeing • Outward facing, working with our staff and others to champion best practice in the East SILC, locally and nationally

The East Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) is a 2-19 generic special school with 426 pupils on roll. All our pupils have special learning needs and some have physical/ medical difficulties. The East SILC is a complex organisation which operates on a variety of sites to provide a range of outreach services across the city, including partnerships with primary and secondary providers, the city-wide Physical Difficulties and Medical Service including a moving and handling service, as well as the Medical Needs Teaching Service for Leeds.
