A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the South Hams Federation as a Head of School at Malborough with South Huish Church of England (VC) Primary School in the Diocese of Exeter.

The Head of School will play a major role under the direction of the Executive Headteacher in leading and inspiring excellence at Malborough with South Huish Church of England (VC) Primary School. You will help lead on formulating the aims and objectives of the school, establishing the policies through which they shall be achieved whilst managing staff and resources to achieve this.

The position will consist of 0.6 leadership time and 0.4 teaching time.

If you are innovative, creative, forward thinking, and have a passion for working with staff and communities to ensure children get the education they deserve, this may be the opportunity for you to make a real difference. You will be a learning centred leader with a deep understanding of how children learn with a strategic approach to removing barriers.

You will be based at Malborough with South Huish Church of England (VC) Primary School, however you may be required to work at another school within the Federation and will be required to attend staff meetings and training at other schools within the Federation.
You must have the ambition and energy to provide inspirational leadership. In particular, you should have:

• A belief that all children are capable of great things and that learning should be fun
• A relentless focus on improving the quality of teaching and improving outcomes for children
• A track record of and commitment to closing the gap between the most disadvantaged pupils and others
• An unwavering commitment to inclusion and securing provision which meets the needs of the most vulnerable pupils
• High expectations of everyone within the school community
• Developed robust and accurate systems of self-evaluation which have led to improved outcomes
• Implemented rigorous procedures for the management of performance
• Offered high levels of support and challenge to staff which have led to improved teaching and outcomes for pupils
• Developed a curriculum which inspires children to learn and engages them in all aspects of school life
• Developed positive relationships with parents, carers and the wider community
• A firm commitment to school improvement through a collaborative approach, including work with other schools in the South Hams Federation

Malborough with South Huish Church of England (VC) Primary School is located in the beautiful South Hams area of Devon and is rated a Good Primary School (Ofsted 2017) and a Good Church School (SIAMS 2016). We currently have 83 children on roll who are well behaved, great fun and eager to learn. Our staff are dedicated, talented and child centred. The school truly holds the ethos and values at the heart of all it does, with strong links to the church and a real sense of community.
