Head of Science – Maternity Cover –

We are seeking an ambitious and inspirational classroom practitioner to lead our Science department. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Leadership to develop standards and will have the drive and ability to lead and develop the curriculum and the quality of teaching. You will manage a team of subject specialists and will be accountable for high standards of student progress and implementing strategies for effective intervention. Suitable candidates do not require any previous Head of Department experience (all though this desirable).
Science is currently delivered by 8 teachers following the AQA GCSE qualification which students begin in Y9 after a two-year mastery based KS3. The department is committed to trialling new ideas in the classroom and works hard to provide engaging activities and lessons to ensure that all students have every opportunity to make excellent progress. Bohunt School Worthing is based in a central location in Worthing; a coastal town on the South Coast in West Sussex. With easy access to the A27; centrally between Chichester and Brighton, and also the A24 and the A23. We are well served by public transport, with a train station within walking distance and a bus route on our doorstep.
