Head of Science Faculity job summary
Job Purpose:
The Head of our Science Faculty is responsible specifically for the leadership and development of Science throughout the School, ensuring that each pupil is positively encouraged to develop their potential to the full.
The Head of Science, will lead the development of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
The Head of Science has a superb opportunity to build upon strong foundations that exist and create a vibrant and forward-looking faculty in an all through school, that will attract pupils into its GCSE and A Level courses.
Duties:
The duties outlined in this job description are in addition to those covered by the most recent School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
The duties may be modified by the Principal, after discussion with you, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job, commensurate with the salary and job title.
Specific Responsibilities:
● Planning, implementing and reviewing the Science curriculum
● Ensuring that assessment is both regular and thorough and that full records of pupils are kept
● Representing the department within the school in matters relating to the curriculum and management
● Liaising with other departments in the school
● Cooperating with senior staff in developing links with feeder schools
● Liaising with senior staff in matters concerned with discipline and matters relating to the timetable
● Implementing the ongoing development of the subject area
● Organising and attending curriculum enrichment trips
● Reviewing and developing practical work
● Provision of extension activities, such as for the Most Able cohort.
● Providing appropriate support for SEN pupils
● Providing academic support outside of lessons, such as revision classes
● Managing the provision of textbooks and resources
● Ensuring Health and Safety guidelines are followed
● Ensuring that faculty classrooms present a stimulating environment
● Implementing all school policies
● Contributing to the spiritual, moral and cultural development of pupils
● Within these specific responsibilities, the Science Faculty Lead is expected to foster a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere within the department for pupils
● To enrichment activities to enhance the teaching and learning of Science within the school.

We require a motivated, visionary, experienced individual to be the faculty lead for Create and Design. This role is a key position within the school and involves strategic leadership and oversight of Art, DT and Food and Nutrition. The desired candidate will be a well-qualified teacher of a Create and Design subject with the skills and vision required to develop a dynamic, innovative team. The successful candidate will have proven leadership skills, a strong grasp of the elements of successful curriculum design and will be dedicated to improving standards and accelerating student progress.
