Recruitment & Retention Point negotiable for exceptional candidate

We are a Multi Academy Trust comprising of six secondary schools and one primary school with over 750 employees and over 5,500 students, based in Dudley, West Midlands

Kinver High School is seeking to appoint an inspirational and ambitious Head of Science to join our ‘warm and welcoming school’ where ‘pupils behave well in lessons’ and ‘are polite and courteous’ (Ofsted Dec 21).

The ideal candidate will share our student-centered values and be an engaging and proactive teacher and leader with a passion for lifelong learning. The candidate should be an outstanding classroom practitioner with either the ability and experience to teach through to A-Level, or the desire to one day do so. You must be able to demonstrate and evidence successful outcomes in your current role. Experience of coaching and mentoring of other staff is highly desirable. You must firmly believe and be driven to ensure that every student regardless of starting point, can achieve success, enjoy school, and be engaged with wider school life, to become the best that they can be.

Science is a popular and successful subject in which students achieve well. At KS4 students follow either the Trilogy (Combined) or Triple Science pathway and at KS5 Biology, Physics and Chemistry A-Level alongside Forensics is taught within Invictus Sixth Form. There are 6 members of the department, and no particular science subject specialism is sought. As a school we routinely achieve above national outcomes at KS4 and currently have an ALPs score of a 2. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role within the schools core RAG (Raising Achievement) Team; working closely with the Headteacher, Head of Upper School and Heads of Maths and English to continue to shape and advance teaching and learning to improve outcomes and raise aspirations for all students.

We are a highly successful and increasingly popular oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school of just over 800 students, situated in the picturesque village location of Kinver on the western fringe of the West Midlands. The school has undergone rapid growth in recent years due to its popularity, moving form a 4-form entry in Year 7 to 6-form entry. The school operates its own designated school coach transport service, which means that our intake spans 5 local authorities and our parents and students choose to come to us, making Kinver the non-selective ‘selective’ school.

We are sure that once you visit us and meet our students, you’ll find that we are the school for you and your career journey, our CPD through school and in partnership with Invictus is exemplary.

We would strongly encourage you to get in touch and arrange a visit. We want the very best teachers for our students and look forward finding out if you are that person.

Please contact the Headteacher’s Personal Assistant, Mrs L Chamberlainlchamberlain@invictus.educationto arrange a visit or request further details.
