Head of Science job summary
We require an exceptional candidate to continue our recent improvement in Science with the core vision of the delivering high quality teaching and learning to every student. This will include the continuing development of our curriculum in order that teachers can engage and inspire future generations of our students. The successful candidate will be a leader and a classroom teacher of the highest calibre, who can mentor other teacher colleagues, both inexperienced and experienced, inspiring them to become the most effective practitioners they can be. This is central to our improvement plan. The successful candidate will be expected to oversee the improved student outcomes in all qualifications within science, including Key Stage 3. Leading by example is crucial to the role, along with the oversight of our dedicated team of Lead Practitioners. The ability to network and foster strong relationships with science colleagues in other schools.

We are a co-educational comprehensive of 1200 students aged 11-16, located to the west of Solihull Town centre in the district of Shirley. We draw students from Solihull and Birmingham. Our intake has a broad mix of both attainment and socio-economic backgrounds.
We have an excellent staff team. Each individual, be they teacher or support staff, is committed and hard working. Our students are enthusiastic and friendly. They are respectful, polite and very well mannered. Relationships between students and staff are highly positive.
In our annual surveys, both parents and students rate the school highly.
