Head of Science job summary
We are looking for a Head of Science to join our small friendly staff. Do you have a passion for your subject? Do you enjoy teaching small groups of children? Do you enjoy trying to get the very best out of individuals who may not have had a good experience of learning so far? We have a small well equipped lab and teach the AQA GCSE course at Key Stage 4. At Key stage 3 we have purchased an online learning system which allows for easy ongoing assessment. Most of the students really enjoy doing practical work but often need help to reach their full potential in examination conditions.
You will need to be flexible and have a good sense of humour. Experience of key stage 3 teaching or a Physics specialist would be an advantage but we are more interested in finding the "right person."
Applicants should have experience of teaching students who have emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Mid-Essex Co-operative Academy is a mixed 4-16 Pupil Referral Unit with strong partnership links to our referring schools. We cater for up to 135 pupils across Key Stages 1-4 and are based on two sites. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and this appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references and pre-employment checks.

Mid Essex Co-operative Academy is a Pupil Referral Unit, part of the Keys Co-operative Academy Trust. Our Alternative Provision Academy educates vulnerable children from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4 referred from schools across Essex mid areas. We would like to appoint an enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our committed and caring team across our Academy centres based at our Witham Campus (please read the job description available). Many of the young people who attend our provision arrive here at a point of crisis or conflict in their lives. It is our aim to ensure that we help them to regain a sense of confidence and self-esteem which allows them to compete on equal terms with their peers, despite the disruption to their education caused by leaving mainstream school.
