What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and ambitious leader to the role of Head of Science at Nexus. This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional science practitioner to lead Science at our Nexus campus, CSIA’s Centre of Excellence for STEM and Liberal Arts. As Head of Science at Nexus, you will lead a team of expert science teachers in delivering an exceptional and forward-thinking science curriculum to some of the most gifted students in the county. You will have a proven track record of exceptional teaching and raising student outcomes. You must have excellent leadership and management potential, and be ambitious in both your own career, and for the students we teach. Finally, and most importantly, you must be deeply passionate about science teaching and learning, and securing the highest educational standards for all students.

You will also be a key member of the wider Science Faculty across both CSIA and Nexus. As part of our large but close and supportive team, you will join us on a journey to becoming exceptional in all aspects of science education. Our VI Form provision is incredibly successful, and we are also able to offer the best co-curricular programme in the region, with students offered extraordinary opportunities both at home and internationally. Science plays a key role in the education of all our students across CSIA and Nexus, and you will have a critical role in helping to shape this into a truly remarkable experience for our young people.

At Post 16, students from all over the county can study at Cornwall School of Mathematics and Science (CSMS), which is part of our VI Form provision. The aim is to develop young learners who are able to pick and choose from the best courses at the very best universities worldwide; young people who have a wealth of research experience from working with some of the best academics in their field of interest.
