Head of Science job summary

*INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY 25TH MAY 2022*

The successful candidate will be joining us at an exciting time for the school. We have recently changed our designation from age 5-16 to age 3-19, meaning we will be able to offer a through curriculum. We also will be increasing the capacity of the school from 115 to 200 pupils.
The school has an experienced SLT made up of the Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher, 3 Lead Practitioners and an extended leadership team of TLR holders.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading science as well as an additional whole school initiative. You will have a passion to work with pupils with ASD/SLCN with a wide range of ability. This will include teaching up to GCSE level, with the potential to offer a higher level qualification in our new Post 16 provision, or for our most able.
We are excited by the opportunity to implement a new formal KS4 accreditation in our science department which reflects the changing needs of the school and our cohort. We also are excited to hear about your plans to extend this learning for our most able and KS5 pupils.
We currently offer general science across the school and Biology at KS4 but we are excited to consider alternatives.
