We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Science to further strengthen our science faculty, reporting in to the Senior Leadership Team. We are inviting applications from inspiring classroom practitioners, talented middle leaders (with QTS) who are dedicated to delivering our exciting science curriculum across all abilities at Key Stage 3 and 4 and who are committed to raising achievement in science and believe they have the skills, passion and determination to help lead our academy science education to outstanding. This post is not suitable for ECTs.

The successful candidate will support and work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team in providing professional leadership and management of science, they will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of successful outcomes and a keen interest in developing the practices of colleagues to further strengthen the teaching and learning of the faculty. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who will actively and positively promote science within the academy and will teach engaging and challenging lessons to enable our pupils to progress and achieve. You will also play a vital role in fostering curiosity and critical thinking among our students.

Our Science Faculty is very successful with plenty of experience and expertise, making it an ideal faculty to be a part of. The team work collaboratively and support one another brilliantly, they are united in the ambition to be the very best they can be, and give the best to their students. Leaders provide a clear and strategic approach to the curriculum, teaching and assessment approaches ensuring new members of the team have schemes of learning and lesson resources to hit the ground running.

Based in Runcorn, Cheshire - Sandymoor Ormiston Academy is a vibrant and happy 11-16 secondary comprehensive academy in the heart of the community.
