Head of Science job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a dynamic and innovative Head of Science to lead Science throughout our outstanding school at Key Stages 3 & 4. The curriculum covers Entry Level and Combined Science GCSE.
The Head of Science should share good practice and lead by example, promoting high standards in the delivery of lessons within their department.
This truly is a unique opportunity to build on an already successful department and develop science with learning and engagement at the core of everything we do.
Teachers at The Southfield Trust are encouraged to take a creative approach, seeking ways to positively engage with and motivate pupils. You will be confident in directing and utilising support staff within the classroom, in order to create a fun and effective learning environment for our pupils.
The ideal candidate will successfully set a vision and targets for pupil success and be confident in using their knowledge and expertise to monitor progress, give regular feedback and encourage our young people to adopt a responsible and conscientious approach to their own work and study.
Just as important as academic achievement is the social and emotional development of our pupils. We want our pupils to be successful citizens and positively contribute to their local communities, it will therefore be imperative to provide opportunities to advance these skills.
This can be a challenging environment and therefore, determination and resilience are key characteristics for the post.
Educated to degree level and/or of Qualified Teacher Status, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, and have an experienced, innovative style of teaching. You will be motivated to help every child reach their potential.
If you are passionate about working with students with additional needs, and have the energy, drive and desire to motivate our pupils and ensure they achieve the best possible outcomes, then we welcome your application.
This is a permanent full-time post subject to a probationary period of one year.
