We are excited to present an exceptional opening for the position of Head of Science at our esteemed Academy. This role entails overseeing the Science subjects, namely Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The primary objective of this position is to provide leadership, inspiration, and support to a talented department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning, ultimately resulting in outstanding outcomes.
The ideal candidate for this role will possess prior experience in leading these subjects or be a skilled science teacher who is prepared to embrace this opportunity for middle leadership. We are seeking an individual who is positive, forward-thinking, and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively motivate and develop the team. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be a high achiever, consistently setting and maintaining high expectations to drive exceptional results. This post will provide an ideal opportunity for those aspiring for senior leadership in the future.
The successful candidate will lead a highly ambitious department. Operating from a purpose built and well equipped Science block, our team consists of a group of talented specialist teachers and a full-time technician.
We recognise that Science education does not stop when students leave the classroom door. We have a number of strong partnerships with local businesses and other organisations who add to our offer outside of the classroom. These include strong links with our partners at ExxonMobil, who run the local oil refinery. Trips and visits are commonplace. For example, recently a group of our Year 8 students became real-life engineers for the day and were successful in winning the Institution of Engineering and Technology's Faraday Challenge.
We strongly encourage you not to overlook this remarkable opportunity to become a part of our Academy.
New Forest Academy is a successful and popular 11-16 community school adjacent to the New Forest National Park and we are proud to serve the South Waterside community in Hampshire.
As a small school we are fortunate to be able to really get to know each and every student. Staff who work here see this a real benefit and you will join a school where tailored CPD and effective communication is firmly embedded. We are a 'good' school, with outstanding features.
If you are successful, you will join a school where all colleagues play their part and contribute to whole school improvement through our distributed leadership model. If you embody these values and have high expectations, you will be very successful working with us.
School visits are welcome, to arrange please contact Jess Mockridge
