What skills and experience we're looking for
Campion School is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join their 6th Form Department as Head of 6th Form, a position that promises both leadership development and the chance to significantly contribute to the department's growth.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to enhance the department's results, playing a key role in shaping its future while gaining valuable experience and support for their own leadership aspirations within the United Learning Trust.
This role offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional advancement in an educational setting. The role is available from January 2025.
Key Responsibilities
The main purpose of the role is to lead the 6th form management team, tutor team and sixth form teachers to raise the achievement of students in Years 12 & 13.
Leadership and Management
- Support self-evaluation and strategic planning of sixth form provision
- Lead strategic planning in the sixth form
- Ensure that appropriate systems are in place to analyse student performance data
- Lead a target setting process that provides a high level of challenge for students
- Lead an effective engagement, transition, and induction programme to ensure that students are well prepared for 6th form study
- Manage the effective deployment, use and care of budgetary and physical resources including the bursary system
Quality of education
- Lead the development of excellent teaching and learning across the sixth form
- Lead the development of a coherent and ambitious sixth form curriculum that gives all students the knowledge and skills to succeed in life
- Lead the development of high-quality enrichment activities as part of the sixth form programme of study
- Excellent classroom practitioner
Personal development
- Lead provision that ensures that students are ready for the next stage of education, employment or training
- Lead the development of student leadership and student voice opportunities within and beyond the sixth form
Behaviour and attitudes
- Ensure the safety and management of risk of 6th form students and lead the effective implementation of procedures relating to students’ wellbeing in the 6th form including safeguarding and ensure close liaison with the safeguarding team.
- Engender positive attitudes that ensures a strong ethos is present in the sixth form
- Ensure the appropriateness of behaviour and dress of Sixth Form students.
