We pride ourselves on our academic success. This year 83% of students achieved both GCSE English and Mathematics at level 4 or better and 29% of all grades were 9 – 7. Our extremely well subscribed sixth form also performed well with over 27% of all grades at A*A and 75% of all grades at A*-C. Each year a number of students secure places at Oxbridge and on other highly competitive courses.
We are searching for a full-time Head of Sixth Form to join us from 1 September 2020 on a permanent basis.
We are looking for:
Someone to work with our committed and enthusiastic Sixth Form team, reporting into one of the Assistant Headteachers to ensure the school successfully delivers a curriculum allowing students to fulfil their potential.
You will be the strategic lead alongside the Leadership Team and will develop and manage the growth of the Sixth Form. You will be involved in all aspects of Sixth Form life as well as having a teaching timetable in our modern school, supported by an excellent house system. Leading and supporting the Sixth Form team and tutors you will monitor the academic progress of students ensuring an ethos of high expectations, hard work and independence in learning.
You will understand the needs and priorities for Sixth Form students, and work to develop sustainable opportunities to help them achieve their academic and extra-curricular goals while at St Bartholomew’s School. You will also be looking ahead to their post-Sixth Form options including leading our successful UCAS programme, apprenticeship and career opportunities, developing a range of enrichment support to get the very best outcomes for our students.

St Bart’s is a leading academy school (1900 on roll with a 6th Form of 580) in West Berkshire and our long history and excellent community links provide our students with opportunities in many ways.
Road links are good as we are close to the A34 and M4, as well as excellent public transport and within walking distance of Newbury train station.

St. Bartholomew's School was founded in 1466 and is proud of its ancient tradition. It is now an 11-18 comprehensive school of over 1900 students with a Sixth Form of 570 serving Newbury and a wide area of West Berkshire and the Hampshire/Wiltshire borders, with outstanding facilities.
