Head of Sixth Form job summary

1-year fixed term contract

We are seeking a committed and inspirational Head of Sixth Form to join our team at St Clere’s School on a one-year fixed term contract. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and experienced educational leader to take strategic and operational responsibility for the Sixth Form, playing a pivotal role in driving academic excellence and personal development for our students.

As Head of Sixth Form, you will lead the strategic development and day-to-day management of the Sixth Form, working to maximise student achievement and ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning at KS5. You will oversee all aspects of student recruitment, induction, and academic progress, while collaborating with colleagues to monitor and enhance performance, attendance, and progression outcomes. A key part of the role involves providing high-quality guidance for students pursuing university, apprenticeship, or other career pathways, as well as actively promoting the Sixth Form both within St Clere’s and across the wider community.

The successful candidate will also be an Associate Member of the Senior Leadership Team, working closely with the broader leadership team to raise standards and deliver improvements in post-16 provision.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified teacher with a strong track record of success at KS5
  • Has experience of middle leadership and a demonstrable impact on student outcomes
  • Can inspire students and staff with a clear vision for Sixth Form excellence
  • Has excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
  • Understands how to raise attainment and support diverse learners effectively
