What skills and experience we're looking for

We seek an excellent leader who will be part of a strong middle leadership team as Head of Sixth Form. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, experienced and inspiring leader who will understand and embody aspirations into every corner of the Academy, working alongside other leaders in the academy.

The Head of Sixth Form will have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Sixth Form, the academic progress and pastoral welfare of the Sixth Form students, and recruitment of students. As a key member of the Curriculum Leader team, the Head of Sixth Form will be active in promoting the school aims, and supporting an ethos that promotes achievement and high standards.

We are looking for an individual who leads with humanity and epitomises the ethical framework for leadership in education, a calm and motivated individual who can foster positive relationships rapidly, a natural supportive leader who has presence and inner drive, an optimist who will go the extra mile to ensure the life chances and ‘cultural capital’ of all our pupils are maximised.

You will be a successful leader with a proven track record of school improvement. You will have significant experience of raising achievement, leading change and have excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate staff and students.

With students who have the desire to succeed, an aspirational team of staff, supportive colleagues, both within the academy and in the wider MAT, Wykham Park Academy offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, talented individual looking to develop their career with the potential for future progression within Aspirations.

You would become part of a vibrant learning community that will offer you fantastic opportunities for CPD, and opportunities for progression. In fact, appraisal at Aspirations focusses on each individual's Personal Professional Vision.

  • Clear behavior systems
  • A feedback policy focused on closing the gap – we do not have onerous/impossible marking policies and we continuously monitor them from a workload perspective
  • No formal graded lesson observations – just ongoing ‘no-stakes’ feedback, helping you to continuously develop – we believe that trusting our staff with autonomy helps to develop a strong staff culture
  • Collaborative planning with centralised, shared units of work and resources
  • CPD that starts as soon as you are appointed with a clear induction programme and an extensive programme of CPD offered by our Trust

We would be delighted to show you around our Academy in order to fully appreciate our thriving community.
