Head of Social Studies job summary

Required from January 2022.
Following consistent growth of our social studies offer over recent years, we are now seeking to recruit a Head of Social Studies to work within our Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty, to lead and develop our offer. A strong and well-structured health and social care course, at BTEC Levels 1, 2 and 3, has recently been joined by A level sociology. There is scope in future to develop sociology as a GCSE option, and the possibility of further responsibility and remuneration by negotiation. We are seeking a sociology specialist with experience of teaching Key Stages 4 and 5 and with a passion to develop their subject as a core element of the curriculum. Knowledge and/or experience of psychology would also be an advantage, as there is also a strong A level psychology offer taught by a subject specialist.
