Dear Candidate,
Thank you for expressing an interest in the post of Head of Subject - Design and Technology at Clapton Girls’ Academy.
We are an outstanding 11-19 academy. We prioritise high quality learning and teaching to ensure successful student achievement. Our students are keen to learn and a pleasure to teach. We provide a warm and welcoming learning environment with a strong team of committed teachers and support staff. Staff can develop their teaching practice through a number of opportunities, including ongoing CPD, access to a range of courses and through our status as a World Class School and leading member of the Hackney Teaching Schools Alliance (HTSA).
Student outcomes at Clapton Girls’ Academy are outstanding. Results have been on a positive trajectory for the past 4 years. 80% of our students achieved grade 9-4 in both English and Maths in 2020. Progress is outstanding with students achieving on average a whole grade higher than expected in all GCSE subjects. This has been achieved with a cohort where approximately half of students are from disadvantaged backgrounds and results achieved by these students are significantly better than similar students nationally. Our popular sixth from continues to grow. Our Key Stage 5 results are among the best in Hackney and our results for A Level and BTEC are in the top 1% of sixth forms nationally.
Our Technology department is housed in a purpose built block with state of the art equipment. The block contains mutli- material workshops, a computer suite, a newly refurbished food room and a laser cutter. There is also a full time technician.
We are looking for staff who are committed to developing confident and capable learners. We expect hard work, skill and dedication, and in return will provide an excellent working environment, competitive rates of pay and a comprehensive staff benefits package.
