Students achieve outcomes that prepare them to take their place successfully in the global 21st Century, whichever path they choose to follow.

The successful candidate will lead the curriculum development of Business Studies, Economics and Computer Science with responsibility for the day to day running of the departments and the progress of our students. They will lead a committed and professional team of staff. The Subject Leader will motivate and inspire students, staff, parents and carers and the wider community to ensure every student achieves their full potential and is equipped to take advantage of a range of opportunities.

The Business Studies and Economics department is a strong, respected and supportive department. It is forward thinking and consistently striving for excellence. We believe that success in business is essential in today’s world. The team seek to inspire our students to appreciate not only the theoretical aspects of Business, but also to enjoy the application of theory to everyday life. We also focus on developing transferable skills such as research, analysis and evaluation as well as team-working and presentation skills.

Staff in the department are dedicated and enthusiastic and there is a strong commitment to staff development.

Business studies and Economics is the highest performing department at KS5 within the school.

Computing has a strong track record, with excellent results at GCSE and A-level. We have experienced and expert teachers that help students from across the ability range to achieve very high grades. We also run a wide range of activities outside lessons such as Cyber Security clubs and programming clubs, with enthusiastic participation from students. We are regular and successful entrants to competitions based on the Raspberry Pi and we run several trips in support of computing projects.

With regard to the curriculum, we currently teach all students up to year 8 and then Year 9 can choose Computer Science as an option. This allows for more teaching time and prepares students well for choosing the subject as one of their GCSEs. Many of these students then progress onto A level, with a high proportion continuing into further education on Computer Science degrees or Computer Science apprenticeships.

Our students follow an academic core curriculum throughout Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This includes the study of History, Geography and a Language as well as English, Maths and Science. But our students also have the opportunity to do a range of practical and vocational subjects including a wide range of creative and performing arts, physical education and other humanities like Business studies, Psychology and Economics.

Outside the formal curriculum we offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities and clubs. Our students travel the world – recent trips have been to China, Poland, Berlin, skiing in Utah, and Barcelona, along with many opportunities to attend fieldwork, theatres and museums more locally. Our students are also very active in the community working alongside local and overseas charities to raise money for good causes.

If you feel your values and ethos align with ours, this is an exciting opportunity for you! We are looking for someone with energy and vision that is ambitious for themselves and the young people of the school. You will have a growth mindset and believe in offering dynamic learning across the Key Stages.

Working with us offers you the opportunity to;
• Join a positive school where effort and success is celebrated
• Engage in excellent and personalised professional development opportunities
• Have the support of a dynamic leadership team to ‘take risks’ in a supportive environment
