Food Technology Teacher/ Instructor / Practitioner job summary

Permanent, full or part-time.  To start as soon as possible.

 The Role

Fernhill School is seeking to appoint an innovative, dynamic and highly motivated colleague to join our Technology department from September specialising in Food. We are keen to hear from instructors or chef practitioners, especially those who are interested in working towards a teaching qualification.  The successful candidate will be an excellent practitioner and a strong team player with a keen interest in developing a love of cookery in others and a cutting edge curriculum that places Food Technology at the forefront of innovative practice.

The Candidate

Following the departure of the current post holder, we are looking to recruit a dynamic and highly motivated instructor who can build on the excellent work already achieved. The successful candidate will be able to instruct Food Technology and develop their ability to instruct to GCSE level.  Above all, our next Food Technology instructor will have a love for their subject demonstrated by engaging and dynamic lessons that inspire our students.  Our students are well motivated, keen to learn and characterful. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate innovative previous experience and very importantly, great commitment and enthusiasm.

The Technology Department

The Technology Department includes Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles, Vehicle Technology and Food Technology. Technology is a popular subject both at Key Stage 3 and GCSE, with demand exceeding capacity. The department is well resourced with two workshops (one housing a laser cutter and a 3D printer), one textiles room, a garage and a designated Food room.  A full time technician ably assists in the preparation for Food Technology lessons and supports students with SEND.

Fernhill School is a mainstream, non-selective, community state secondary for girls and boys aged 11-16. The school is located in Farnborough, Hampshire and has good transport links via the M3 and A331.
