We are seeking to appoint an inspiring, passionate and ambitious teacher to join our friendly team of subject specialists, and take the lead role in our Technology Faculty.

The post holder will also be expected to work collaboratively with other subjects in the school, as well as being responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating a dynamic and engaging curriculum across all technology subjects. In addition, they will make significant contributions to teaching and learning, progress, whole school literacy, and contribute to relevant Continual Professional Development (CPD).

The Head of Technology will have proven expertise in the teaching of Food/Catering and/or Product Design to at least GCSE level, and an enthusiasm to grow and develop what is already a popular subject area. Our Heads of Faculty/Department have responsibility for outcomes within their subject, in terms of examination grades, and as such must be an outstanding practitioner and lead by example. Most importantly they will have the ability to inspire our students through their learning, and the desire to be an integral part of a successful school community.

The School

John Hanson is a comprehensive community school for students aged 11 – 16. There are currently 980 students on roll; the teaching establishment is around 55 teachers, 55 support staff and a strong sense of community. The Leadership team are totally committed to the principles of comprehensive education and providing the very best learning experience we can for each individual. It is the school’s role to ensure that all students and staff are supported to reach their full potential.

The school can trace its origins back to 1569 with the foundation of Andover Grammar School. In the 1970s the grammar school became a comprehensive school and was renamed John Hanson School after an original benefactor of the Grammar School. In 2002 the school relocated to a greenfield site towards the outskirts of Andover, very close to the A303.
