What skills and experience we're looking for

As a Head of Design and Technology you would be at the forefront of developing and sharing best practice in Design and Technology learning and teaching, as well as innovating to get the best out of the students and your department. Colfox’s focus is developing teaching and learning strategies that make a real difference to students’ engagement and progress. We believe that action based research is the key to improving teaching and the learning experience of our students and as the Head of Design and Technology you would lead one of these action research groups to help improve the students experience and outcomes in Design and Technology.

If you want to lead a successful department in a school that values its staff and is at the heart of the community, then we look forward to receiving your application. This post is suitable for an ambitious and forward thinking candidate and we welcome applications from teachers who have at least three years’ experience of classroom practice.

What the school offers its staff

We are an outwardly facing school in a beautiful part of the country and this is a great time to join our school as we have recently established a multi-academy trust with the Wimborne Academy Trust forming the Initio Learning Trust. There will be opportunities to work closely with all of our partner schools as our new Trust develops.

We have a mentoring system to support leadership skills for those who have not yet had opportunities for this. If you are a colleague who is less experienced and do not feel ready to take on a Head of Design and Technology role at this current time, then we would still like to hear from you. It could be that with further support and experience, you could make the transition at a later date. Enthusiasm for Design and Technology education and outstanding classroom practice is what we are looking for.

Commitment to safeguarding

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
