What skills and experience we're looking for

The Grey Coat Hospital is seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher to join the pastoral team at the school. Heads of year follow the cohort right through from years 7-11.

We are looking for someone who will:

  • be creative and able to lead, manage and further develop the team of form tutors, students and curriculum
  • be able to maintain the disciplined atmosphere and strong learning ethos that prevails within the school

The Grey Coat Hospital, founded in 1698, is a Church of England comprehensive school for girls aged eleven to eighteen with a mixed Sixth Form. The historic foundation of the school and its current ethos are rooted in a confident and generous Christian faith and practice, which welcomes students and staff of all backgrounds and beliefs. We are a heavily oversubscribed comprehensive school for girls with excellent GCSE results. 96% of students attained 5+ subjects overall including 9-4 English and Maths. 63% of all grades attained in all subjects at KS4 were 7-9. We also have a large sixth form of 300 students where students achieve outstanding results with a percentage of top grades well above the national average.

The Grey Coat Hospital, when last inspected, was judged to be ‘outstanding’ in all categories by OFSTED in October 2022. In 2020, the School achieved ‘excellent’ in the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools. We are proud of our ethos of continued self-improvement, which characterises every aspect of our culturally diverse school. The school is committed to building on our passion for excellent teaching and learning as well as continuing to place an emphasis on our language specialism and international ethos.
