We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and forward-thinking Head of Year 7 (Transition and Induction) to join our dynamic Pastoral Team. This is a key middle leadership (non-teach) role with a distinct focus on Year 7 and the transition from primary to secondary education and the support we offer pupils to embrace ‘The Cams Hill Way’.

The Head of Year 7 will provide strategic leadership for the Year 7 pastoral provision, ensuring that every pupil joining Cams Hill School is supported during their first year, valued and empowered to achieve their full potential in and outside the classroom. You will lead and develop the school’s approach to Year 7 transition, ensuring that systems, processes and support structures enable pupils to make a confident and successful start to their secondary education.

You will line manage the Assistant Head of Year 7 (Transition and Induction), providing guidance, direction and professional support while working collaboratively to deliver an outstanding Year 7 experience. This will involve overseeing the planning and delivery of the Year 7 transition and induction programme, ensuring that strong relationships with primary schools are maintained and that key information about pupils is effectively shared with staff.

Working closely with primary schools, parents, carers, external agencies and other stakeholders, you will ensure that pastoral systems are responsive to the diverse and evolving needs of each cohort, including pupils with additional learning, social, emotional and wellbeing needs. You will play a central role in identifying potential barriers to learning and ensuring that early support and appropriate interventions are in place.

Alongside the strategic leadership of the year group, you will be actively involved in the day-to-day pastoral work that underpins effective support for pupils. This includes supporting behaviour management in line with the school’s high expectations, working closely with Curriculum and Senior Leaders to ensure that every ensure every pupil is making strong progress and achieving their full potential, overseeing attendance strategies for specific pupils, holding and recording meetings with families and external professionals, and using data to identify patterns and inform targeted interventions.

You will also manage and develop the wider Year 7 pastoral team, overseeing the work of tutors to ensure a consistent and high-quality approach to supporting pupils during this important stage of their school journey.
