We are seeking to appoint an outstanding PE teacher to join our middle leadership as a Head of Year. The successful candidate will further strengthen our Performance Faculty and pastoral support team. Applications are invited from ambitious, inspirational and talented teachers of boys PE who have a proven track record of successful teaching and outcomes at KS3 and 4. Whilst applicants do not need previous experience of leading a year group, they will have the drive, passion and determination to lead a cohort of young people to achieve more than they ever thought possible.
Ormiston Meridian Academy is a thriving secondary academy in the south of the city, serving 11-16 year old students. Our ambition statement is ‘Shaping Lives, Building Ambition and Igniting Futures’ and every decision we make and action we take is to ensure our students excel as young adults. Alongside our lessons, we provide a rich and diverse co-curricular programme that develops character and inspires our students. We all work together to instil a strong sense of belonging for all, which enables students to succeed and become active members of the community as they move into adulthood. All teaching staff are expected to take part in extra-curricular activities.
The successful candidate will work alongside the Vice Principal Behaviour and Safeguarding and ensure the wellbeing and personal and academic development of each individual within the Year Group. Working closely with fellow Heads of Year, the Director of Attendance, Directors of Faculty and the SENDCo, as a member of the Middle Leadership they will lead the team of tutors in the year group in the delivery of excellent pastoral care where each child or young person is known and valued as an individual. They will ensure clear communication between students, parents/ carers and staff. Every Head of Year has their own non-teaching Pastoral Manager to support the Head of Year in maintaining excellent standards of behaviour, attendance and achievement. In liaison with the Vice Principal they will produce and implement an annual strategic plan for the year group in line with the School’s annual Strategic Development Plan and overarching long-term strategy.
If you feel inspired to work alongside a team of exceptional teachers and leaders and have the desire to deliver outstanding PE provision and pastoral care for a specific Year group then we want to hear from you.
