About the role:

  • Promote Pupil Success and Motivation: The Head of Year is responsible for equipping students with the necessary skills to maximise their learning potential and fostering motivation for success across the year group.
  • Leadership and Team Management: You will lead a team of form tutors, ensuring effective delivery of tutor time sessions, supporting their development, and managing pupil progress and behaviour within your year group.
  • Accountability for Attendance and Behaviour: The role involves overseeing pupil attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and preparedness for lessons, ensuring these standards align with the set targets and promoting positive outcomes.
  • Collaboration and Safeguarding: Work closely with the Leadership Team and other staff to implement college policies, promote core values, and ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all students within the year group.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to enthuse and motivate young people; to show compassion and empathy; and the determination and discipline that is needed to support all students to thrive.
  • Have a desire to ensure support, opportunity and challenge is available for all students under their care.
  • Demonstrate excellent team work, organisation and attention to detail.
  • Guide and support other staff to achieve the College’s goal of ensuring every child can succeed.
