What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to add to our team of creative, supportive and dynamic staff by appointing an inspirational Head of Year available to join us in September 2023.Plympton Academy are seeking to appoint an experienced teacher with a specialism in English,who has knowledge of working within a pastoral role, or would like to progress their career in this area. You will be accountable for the monitoring of the curriculum and pastoral provision for students in your allocated Year Group.
The successful candidate will be a creative and dynamic practitioner with a passion for English that enthuses and engages students of all abilities and ages, having high expectations of all students to help them fulfil their potential.
What you will need to succeed:
- Be a qualified teacher of English and able to deliver up to Key Stage 5
- Be passionate about teaching and learning and have a positive outlookand excellent interpersonal skills
- Good or Outstanding classroom practice with high expectations for achievements and behaviour
- Be able to plan and deliver a creative and stimulating curriculum, both in the physical and digital classrooms
- High expectations for yourself and the Studentsensure that all of our students achieve their very best
- Responsibility for the ethos of your allocated Year Group, taking into consideration student conduct, punctuality, performance and welfare
- Participate in the review, development and management of activities relating to the curriculum, organisation and pastoral functions of the Academy
- Lead, support, coordinate and review the work of your allocated Year Team
- An aspiring leader of learning and happy to grasp exciting CPD opportunities
- Contribute to the values, ethos and the development of our schools
