What skills and experience we're looking for

We have a very exciting opportunity to recruit for a Head of Year, teaching either History and Religion and Philosophy, or Science and Computing, however other subjects may be considered. This is an opportunity to move into a middle leadership role with Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge.

The successful candidate will become part of our Extended Leadership team and will be dedicated to removing barriers to learning and improving life chances for all our students. The successful candidate will be:

  • Proactive, well organised and able to lead both staff and students.
  • An excellent teacher in their own right, who consistently leads by example and is adept at supporting and developing teachers and students.
  • Share our inclusive values of “opportunity, diversity and success for all” and have a willingness to develop their own practice in line with our ethos of continuous improvement.
  • Able to lead a team of tutors and line manage an Assistant Head of Year.

The successful applicant will be energetic and enthusiastic and enjoy working with 11-16-year-olds. You will enjoy nurturing young people to grow in confidence and flourish personally. You will share our inclusive values of “opportunity, diversity and success for all” and you will have a willingness to develop your own practice in line with our ethos of continuous improvement.

We have a proven track record of supporting ambitious staff in to middle and senior leadership posts and can offer opportunities to broaden your impact on the sector through the work of the Maiden Erlegh Institute.
