Hamstead Hall is a highly successful, heavily oversubscribed 11 – 18 Academy.

The Directors are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative Head of Year to further support and develop the achievement of the pastoral team.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work as part of our strong pastoral team taking responsibility for providing appropriate academic and pastoral support for our pupils, to help improve their well-being, academic performance and behaviour for learning.

Hamstead Hall is a friendly and supportive academy, where staff wellbeing and professional development is integral to everything we do. We place the pastoral care of our students at the core of our provision where the development and nurturing of our students is a high priority.

Key aspects of the post:

• To oversee pastoral care and student attainment within a designated year group.

• To be responsible for student progress and development within the year group.

• To monitor and support student progress.

• To develop and enhance high quality pastoral practice within the year group.

• To be accountable for ensuring students receive an appropriate broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated learning experience, in accordance with the aims of the school and the learning policies determined by the Directors, Governing Body and Executive Principals of the academy.

• To be accountable for leading, managing and developing the team of tutors, support staff and other staff associated with the year group.

• To develop an ethos within the year group that promotes positive attitudes to learning.

• To effectively manage and deploy tutors/support staff, financial and physical resources within the year group to support the designated pastoral activities.

In our recent Ofsted inspection in January 2019 it was stated that:

“Pupils are well cared for at the school.”

‘Success for all through hard work and harmony’, is evident in the conduct of pupils both in and out of the classroom.”
