Head of Year, Secondary Phase job summary

The Role
We are seeking a teacher of any discipline to teach in the Secondary section of the school, and lead the pastoral care of one year group of pupils. The exceptional level of care will help drive support our pupils to make dramatic progress towards an A* at A-level and inculcate a healthy sense of physical and mental well-being. The successful candidate will be a caring, committed teacher with a proven track record of leading pupils to achieve outstanding results. They will share the school’s vision and the belief that all young people can achieve at high levels. There will be significant career progression available for the successful candidate

Key responsibilities
• Ensure that pupils in your year group are making appropriate progress in all subjects through close monitoring of data;
• Hold coaches to account in ensuring the well-being of pupils in your year group
• Take responsibility for planning and executing the end of year residential trip;
• Monitor culture and make adjustments where necessary;
• Collaborate closely with the Assistant Headteacher to ensure that teaching and learning is of an exceptional standard within your year group;
• Collaborate closely with the Inclusion team to ensure that all vulnerable and SEND pupils are happy, feel safe and are making excellent academic progress;
• Collaborate closely with parents to ensure that they are aware of their child’s progress, engaged in their development and supporting them in their vision for the future
• Align and uphold the Academy vision, standards of behaviour, discipline and exclusion policy;
• Deal effectively and sensitively with child protection issues.

Other
• Undertake other various responsibilities as directed by the Academy Leadership Team; and
• Undertake the main professional duties of a teacher as set out in the Reach Academy pay and conditions of service document.
