Head Teacher job summary
Purpose of the Post:
Leadership and management of the school in order to promote effective education for all children within the framework provided by the policies of the Governing Body and the Authority with regard to all statutory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities: The professional duties are as set out in the current (or future) School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document, together with the additional duties set out in the job description.

Bleak Hill is a large and expanding primary school with currently 492 children on roll. It primarily serves the parishes of Eccleston and Windle, but also has children on roll from across the St Helens borough. Bleak Hill currently has 4.2% of pupils eligible for free school meals. The school is full in almost all year groups and often oversubscribed. The number of pupils with identified learning needs has risen over recent school years. At Bleak Hill the proportion of children at SEN Support has risen to 11.38%.
There are currently 17 classes. There are three classes in Reception (3x30), Year 1 (3x25) and Year 4 (3x30) and two (x30) in all other Year Groups.
We are an inclusive school and have made considerable progress in developing our school aims which are reviewed annually. They direct us so that in our school we feel valued, secure and are given respect and we have the opportunity to experience success. Bleak Hill offers has a wide range of extra - curricular activities in both Key Stages and takes part in many inter-school sporting events each year.
Our dedicated and hard working staff work cohesively as a team and communicate well with other colleagues and stakeholders.
Governors play an active role in the life of the school and carry out their duties effectively. They bring a vast amount of knowledge and experience to the school. Members of the Governing Body regularly attend training linked to school priorities, enabling them to provide appropriate levels of support and challenge.
